Give to the Fund for Geology Field Experience

The department is always looking for ways to support its Fund for Geology Field Experience, first established through alumni donations in 1997, which gives students with financial need the chance to explore the Canyonlands of Utah to see stratigraphy come to life, examine volcanic flows in Death Valley, and bang their hammers on ophiolite sequences in New Brunswick.

Field experiences bring home the excitement of geoscience in a fundamentally different way from classroom learning. We need your help to continue offering these experiences to all of our students.

The Fund for Geology Field Experiences not only helps support undergrads who have a field component to their senior research project, but it also subsidizes participation in national and international summer field courses, and has helped to fund our annual undergraduate spring break field trip. Graduate students conducting field research not covered by research grants have benefited from this fund as well. All of these field experiences contribute strongly to the collaborative approach that typifies geoscience at Brown.
