The show is hosted by Ethan Baxter, Boston College Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The videos are created for children grades K-5, but they are fun and educational for all ages. In episode #67, "Laser Blast Fossil Fun w/ Dan Ibarra," Dan and Ethan explore the geochemistry of fossils by vaporizing the rock into oxygen gas with a laser.

This isn't the first time someone from DEEPS has appeared on Every Rock Has a Story. In November 2021, DEEPS Graduate Student Imani Guest appeared in episode #58, "Rock Fishing w/ Imani Guest."
